Immigration law
All foreign nationals with dealings in Spain, whether economic, professional or social, as physical persons, are obliged to obtain a Foreign National Identification Number (N.I.E) for the purposes of identification. Legal persons must obtain a Tax Identification Number (N.I.F.). Our legal team will present the relevant documentation to the appropriate government departments in order to obtain an identification number on your behalf. We also assist foreign nationals wishing to obtain temporary or permanent residency permits in Spain, or to adopt Spanish nationality.

Private International Law
In this area of the law, our lawyers’ role is to determine which legislation, under the jurisdiction of which international court, is applicable to the civil and commercial matters in question. Our services include consultation through all the stages of a procedure to enforce, in Spain, a foreign judicial ruling, settlement or other foreign instrument capable of being enforced by the Spanish courts. Where an issue has an international dimension, we are obliged to apply the norms of Private International Law and, in particular, the regulations, directives and decisions of the European Union. In family and inheritance law, as well as in civil and commercial obligations and contracts, increasingly we are seeing the involvement of parties from different countries whose own legislation has to be taken into account. Anticipating and making allowances for the applicable legislation and the competent court we want to hear the action is therefore of paramount importance in this branch of the law. We draft covenants and agreements between the parties which enable us to choose which legislation will apply to their future relations. In this way, we adapt the choice of legislation to the concrete circumstances of each case in order to best serve the interests of the parties involved.

Commercial law
Our legal team is equally at home consulting on company and business law as defending the rights and interests of a client before the Commercial Court. We handle the incorporation of companies after an initial assessment to determine the legal denomination best suited to the client’s interests, drafting all the necessary documentation, such as company statutes and partnership agreements. We advise on the choice of the company’s organizational model: management board, sole administrator, joint and several directors, joint directors, or authorised agents; resolutions your company needs to adopt in order to achieve performance objectives, and whether these should be adopted by the administrative body or by the board of directors (or sole administrator) in their respective areas of competence; cases where the adoption of resolutions may have been against the company’s interests or where the company administrators have failed to fulfil their duties; cases of contesting company resolutions, and liability actions, brought by company or individual, against the management; cases of corporate restructuring, such as transformations, mergers, split-offs or global assignment of assets and liabilities, and increases and reductions in share capital; and cases of pre-insolvency, negotiating with creditors, drafting the appropriate documentation and providing assistance assisting throughout the insolvency proceedings. We act in other matters reserved for the Commercial Court such as proceedings related to brands and patents, or the seizure of ships.
